- Menu Offerings: Grilled sets featuring three primary flavor profiles:
- Canto-Style: Sweet and smoky red sauce. It uses banana ketchup, blended with soy sauce, garlic, and different herbs and spices.
- Bacolod-Style: Garlic annatto (inasal). With unique flavors from garlic, annatto oil, ginger, and sugarcane vinegar.
- Manila-Style (my favorite): Manila Style Sweet Soy is deeply caramelized, slightly sweet, and smoky.
- Key Feature: All sets are served with unlimited garlic hot stone rice and assorted dipping sauces (Sukang basi, Toyomansi, Chicken Annatto Oil, and Balayan-Olive Oil).
Masaganang Pares
These are Filipino-style “bento” or meal sets designed to be more affordable and varied than standard ala carte items.
Kaibigan Pares (Php475) is the meal set I tried. It has molo soup, ukoy, sisig, gising-gising, and garlic rice.
Dining Experience at XO46
- Honorific Service: Staff are known for using traditional Filipino honorifics and speaking only in the mother tongue to enhance the cultural immersion. It is especially entertaining when you ask tham to take pictures of your group, try asking them to take a photo of you and you’ll see what I mean.
- Ambiance: The restaurant features heritage-inspired interiors with a “vintage vibe” designed to feel like a journey through Philippine history.
