Simple Lang is an irony, but its name is very catchy. While the restaurant in Ayala Triangle Gardens has a name that might give one the impression its menu is simple, it’s not. Why? Their menu is adventurous and innovative. They give twists to the traditional Filipino favorites.
Their Crispy Palabok and Sisig Rice are my two top picks.
Palabok is a Filipino rice noodle dish cooked with shrimp sauce, and topped with pork, sliced hardboiled eggs, tinapa (smoked fish) flakes, shrimps, scallions, and crushed pork rind or what we call “chicharon.” Their version of palabok elevated my gastronomic experience by leaps and bounds. Using crispy noodles is sheer genius.
The sauce is served separately. I recommend you pour the sauce when you’re just about to eat the crispy palabok to better enjoy the crispy noodles and hear the crunch. After a few minutes, the noodles soften because of the sauce.
For fried rice, their Sisig Rice is hard to beat. I love sisig, and the way they mixed it with rice is amazing. In fact, it’s already a whole meal that can be shared by three persons.
For dessert, I was surprised at how they combined the fluffy mamon and Milo into something this awesome.
The chocolate goodness of Milo went well with the mamon, plus condensed milk. Two thumbs up for MMmm Milo and Mamon.
Simple Lang is one of the restaurants you’ll find at Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati. The restaurant has two floors in its air-conditioned area. Bright red and warm colors make your stay here feel more alive. Outside, they have a tent area where you can dine al fresco.
Simple Lang describes their restaurant as:
“Good food simplified. Simple lang serves modernized local favorites with hand-picked ingredients with appetizing colors but oh so affordable. Encouraging you to come and experience fun in its simplest form, with friends and family. It has a casual, bright and quirky environment that invites you to get that quick pinoy fix.”
